A slightly less hectic week this week, although one with a lot of book writing. Here’s what I let myself get distracted by:
Articles, books, things to read:
This Guardian piece on the previously censored private correspondence of the Granville family
Eugenia Zuroski’s Journal 18 piece on ‘Nautilus Cups and Unstill Life‘ – I missed this when it first came out, but I read it today and it’s GREAT.
Ula Klein’s new blog post on her reflections on ASECS at 50 – so hoping I can go to ASECS next year.
The first monthly blog from the Edgworth Papers research project based at Oxford – it sounds like a fascinating project and I look forward to see what will come out of it.
This almost slightly painful-to-read The Chronicle Review piece on the adjuntification of academia.
This Guardian piece on the V&A’s acquisition of some of Grayson Perry’s Brexit related work
Stuff to listen to:
A couple of mother’s day appropriate bits, including a Radio 4 show on An Alternate History of Mothering and this edition of the Histories of the Unexpected podcast on Mothers
This new series of podcasts exploring different emotions from the Centre for the History of the Emotions at Queen Mary University of London. They’re short but hugely engaging.
Misc.
The Menstruation Research Network is now on twitter! Follow them here.
This amazing-sounding PhD Studentship in ‘Material Spirits: Objects, Past and Landscape in Contemporary Scottish Whisky‘, co-supervised by some wonderful Edinburgh people.
